Airship Syndicate Reveals Its Mystery Project!
This is a big one folks! Airship Syndicate, the company founded by two of Vigil’s original members (responsible for the Darksiders franchise), Joe Madureira and Ryan Stefanelli along side animator Steve Madureira have announced their first working title!
BATTLE CHASERS IS BACK!
Returning as both a game and a comic, and 14 years after the the release of the ninth and final issue of the comic series, Madureira and company are pulling the franchise out of retirement and I couldn’t be more excited! Ever since I was a kid, Joe Madureira has been my absolute favorite comic book artist, with work ranging from Uncanny X-men to The Ultimates and Avenging Spider-Man to the Savage Wolverine.
Speaking to Polygon early Thursday morning, Madureira and his team revealed that they aren't quite ready to discuss the mechanics of the game in detail, but we do know that it will be an action RPG similar to Darksiders where fan favorite Battle Chasers characters including Garrison, Gully and Calibretto will all be playable. The game will be targeting PC and Console systems, with the potential for a tablet release as well.
"Even though the game mechanically is going to be very different from Darksiders, I think we're still really going to be doing everything we can to make sure that the dungeon exploration side of the game is soaked with lots of fun adventurous elements," says Stefanelli.
As for the comic, Madureira admits that a publisher and release date are yet to be determined, however he’s promising to wrap up the story he left dangling in 2001 before releasing new stories in three issue arcs.
Amazing things are on the horizon for Battle Chasers, and I can’t wait to see how this amazing series from one of the best in the business evolves and unfolds! Start digging for those back issues, kids - this is going to be BIG.
